Landslide Blocks Tunnel

The slide occurred around nine in the evening, obstructing the Málaga-bound traffic. As a result there was an accident when a car ran straight into a large boulder. There was damage to the vehicle, although the driver was unharmed – pretty pissed off, mind, but unharmed.

Before long the Guardia Civil and Policía Local turned up and diverted traffic around the tunnel using the old N-340 stretch that runs past the waste-recycling plant and the butano storage yard.

By three in the morning the rubble had been sufficiently cleared to restore traffic, although work was taken up again the next day to secure the banks with traffic being passed through on an alternating, single-lane system.

Winding up the article, the entrance road to the Punta de la Mona is being resurfaced – such is the wonder of looming municipal elections.
