Car Park Building Alterations

Work on what was Parking Leo (under the municipal market) has begun, with al budget of 740,041 euros. The underground car park – which was the first ever to be built in Almuñécar – is now run by the Motril-based construction company, Hermanos García.

One of the reasons that the car park lease was taken from the original leaseholder was that the installations were deficient by modern-day standards, lacking a lift and a secondary exit in case of an emergency. It is precisely these deficiencies that are being rectified with this budget.

Two of the things underway are an alternative entrance on the Acuario side of the municipal market and the above mentioned lift facilities, which is a legal requirement, providing access for those with mobility problems. The lift will run from the 2nd subterranean level to the market area level.

The musical school will be moving to the P-4 and the vacated premises will be occupied by classrooms for adult (elderly) education.

Those of us who have contracts for parking there will be moved down to the 2nd level, so that the upper level of the parking area will be left free for rotational parking; i.e., people using it by the minute/hour.
