Bye Bye Beach?

The high cost of sorting out the rapidly disappearing beach of Playa Granada, estimated at 15 million euros, probably means that it is not going to get sorted out this side of the Second Coming.

The Ministry of the Environment is carrying out a survey of the retreating beach but already admits that having to find 15m euros, just for the sand, means that a long-term solution is a long, long way off.

The 71,000 cubic metres of sand that was brought over from La Playa del Cable in December hardly lasted two months before it bid a found farewell and buggered off further along the coast, bless it. One good storm and goodbye 430.000 euros.

So, Ladies and Cowered Extensions, what is becoming obvious is that not only did Rules Damn cost indecent amounts to build, but that the daming of the river has cut the natural beach regeneration capacity of the river. In other words, every time a lorry has to bring the sand to Playa Granada, instead of it being dumped, free of charge, by the river, you can add this repetitive expense to the overall cost of the damned dam.
