During my current visit to the area, I have been reflecting on the declared directional shift of the current administration in Almuñécar towards the attraction of “quality tourism.”

Money Laundering

There’s only one place to start this month’s effort, for it’s not often our village makes the national news! I refer of course to the investigation (code-named Gürtel) into the source of funds used to purchase some of the houses built on the new(ish) urbanisation Alminares, abutting the Monte de Los Almendros.

Car-Boot Sale Update

This monthly car-boot sale has gone from strength to strength in a very short time, with demand for stalls exceeding supply and necessitating a waiting list for spaces to be reserved

Volunteer Kitchens

My apologies to those of you who volunteered the help with the proposed project to help feed the unemployed. Deathly silence from the Town Hall.

Server Problems

Sorry folks for the slow appearance of news articles this month but we are having server problems. We hope to get the rest of the articles up during today and tomorrow

Hands Off

The Regional Council for Culture has said ‘hands off’ to the Town Hall over their plans to demolish the Alcoholera (The old building where the municipal TV station is housed, between the park and La Esplanada)
