El Ancla Cliff

The Legend that is Cliff Feasey from El Ancla celebrated his 70th birthday last month, and it is a mark of the man that so many people not only turned out to celebrate with him, but who also contributed to the gift from his friends of an all expenses paid trip to The Emirates Stadium, home of his beloved Arsenal, to watch a premiership game next season.
It is to my shame that I was in the UK during this time and missed out on the celebrations and present giving.
Since returning from the UK Cliff has asked me to thank everyone, from the bottom of his heart not only for the gift, but also for just attending the party, to be with him and Jean on that day. He is still astounded he knew absolutely nothing about it! “Done up like a kipper,” I think is the expression he used.
Cliff is one of the richest men I know, and I can count the others that I have met in my travels, who are equally as rich, on the fingers of two hands… of course many people judge their own wealth or success by the car they drive, the size of their house, the depth of their bank account or their status at work. These people usually don’t know that they are, on the whole, extremely poor. Cliff is genuinely loved and respected, a wealth he carries with dignity and self-effacement, which are qualities rarely found in these modern times. Although he will be embarrassed by these words, I hope he accepts them as my very late and very unworthy contribution to the celebration of his 70 years. Long may The Legend continue!
