Vapour Trails in the Blue

‘A rollicking tale of expat life in Spain’ is how local author Mark le Claire describes his novel, Vapour Trails in the Blue, set in the small Spanish seaside town of ‘Tolmuner’.  Mark now lives in La Herradura, but he used to live in Nerja. ‘Tolmuner’ is an amalgam of local town names.
The story is set during the last economic recession in the nineteen nineties when despite the hard times, a group of 30 to 40-year-old British expatriates in the town manage to have a rare old time together – at least until things turn sour and three of the group flee and end up taking shelter in leper colony, of all things!
Mark has created some vivid characters, most notably a comical, Bunterish character called Percy Sandling and Agripina; a kind-hearted, elderly, Spanish countrywoman, who looks after the lepers and who herself suffers from a peculiar physical abnormality.
Vapour Trails in the Blue is available from Delfin Books in Almuñécar.
