The Town Council of Lanjarón is being investigated over a spot of alleged ‘illegal’ town planning, bless them. A provincial delegate for the PP has accused the present incumbent in the Councillor for Town Planning’s office of being a bit liberal with his interpretation of building restrictions where his own house is concerned.
The delegate, Francisco Tarifa, claims that the said councillor, José Antonio Sánchez, took advantage of his post within the Town Council to go ahead with construction of a building belonging to him, despite an adverse report that had been drawn up by inspector and submitted to the provincial College of Architects, back in July.
Despite this negative report, the Town Council authorised the building work to continue in September.
The governing party, the PSOE, has responded to these accusations, describing them as ‘political opportunism,’ pointing out that the said project has all the correct permissions and approved project documentation.
