The Ermita de Lanjarón just celebrated its 100th birthday, during the fiestas de Virgen del Pilar, of course. The sanctuary was built by José Rodriguez, who was the owner of the Picardias, in 1909, as thanks to the miraculous recovery of his wife from a very serious illness. The first Mass held at the sanctuary attracted over 3,000 people from Lanjarón, Órgiva and the surrounding cortijos.
