Wind Farm Arson

It was back in 2008 that the project to build a wind farm on Cerro Calcaire (Padul) finally got the go ahead with work commencing in 2011; not everybody was happy with the idea. About month ago it was announced that the installations would be operational by the end of this year, generating enough electricity for 7,000 homes.

Slippery Chairman

An ex-chairman of the Urbanización Capistrano Playa de Nerja, (2006 to 2009) is serving time after being handed down a 4-year prison sentence for fraud, as part of a plea deal with the Public Prosecutor and private prosecution (Comunidad de Vecinos de Capistrano Playa).

School Bus Accident

Towards the end of February there was a road accident involving a school mini-bus and a car in Cantoria (Almería), leaving 13 minors, between the ages of 13 and 17 and three adults injured. The majority of those involved were British.

Good News

In this world of political and economic turmoil, it is very rare to hear something positive in the media. But at seven o’clock in the morning on Thursday February 23rd, while having our coffee and croissants, we heard some wonderful news on the television. A girl had been born to Swedish Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.

Bogus Construction Company

The Guardia Civil has arrested a man in Pinos Puentes (near Granada) for allegedly charging 24,000 euros for a series of construction jobs that were never carried out. Why 24,000 and not a nice round 25,000 euros? Because 24,000 euros is exactly 4-million, die-hard pesetas – even after so many years, people might use euros, but they continue to ‘think’ in pesetas.
