Speed Cameras

First of all, they appeared in La Herradura and were the talk of the town, and now they have made an appearance in Almuñécar – and we’re not talking about tourists who took the wrong turning and ended up here, but the dreaded speed cameras.

Non-Stick Benny…

Benny has been acquitted – yet again! This time, he dodged a possible 2-year stretch in prison with a corresponding 10-year barring from public office. The latest judicial reprieve comes over the hitherto ‘illegal’ sports centre that was built in the vega of La Herradura, next to Río Jate. This means that nothing (judicial) stands between the Mayor and possible re-election in May next year in the municipal elections.

Farewell El Ancla!

Goodbye and Farewell! It is with great sadness I write the next article about El Ancla. After over seven years of being a main feature in La Herradura, providing some of the best tucker in town, the premises owners have unfortunately asked for the premises back.

The plan, Ladies and Gentlemen, is to get to the printer on Monday the 30th, meaning that we should be out on the streets on the first. The online edition will start going up on the 1st, as always. Pedals and Heroes

We include a resume send in by John Allan, who actually pedalled across Spain to raise funds for the Help4Heroes charity, whose aim it is to provide support for members of the British Armed Services that have suffered death or multilation in the line of duty. The highest praise and congratulations to Allan for his selfless gesture, amazing achievement and personal dedication to helping others.

Site Changes

You will have noticed already that the heading panel of this site has changed so that we can bring more news to more areas.
