Things are rather lively down at Hotel Arrayanes on the Cotobro beach. Not only are they putting on a fantastic Valentines Menu for just €35 on both the 13th and 14th of February, but you can also pop along on any Wednesday at 4pm and enjoy a Traditional Tea Dance! Mercedes is even putting on cucumber sandwiches and scones, and all for just €5!

Is all your paperwork together? If you are relocating here to Spain or even if you have already settled here, you may well find the MW services people very useful to know.
Bed Solutions

How’s your back? Do you sleep well, or are you a tosser and turner? Are you on the large side, and maybe find it difficult to get comfortable. Or maybe you are just due for a new bed.
Hideaway News

Just a quick mention for The Hideaway bar, which will be having a Wii bowling night on Thursday 11th February, with tapas on the night and prizes to be won. If you don’t know what Wii bowling is, then go along anyway and find out, honestly, it’s really good fun!
New Projects
by David Darby •
Close to a million euros has being allocated by the Town Hall for five new projects in the area, and some of the money is allegedly destined for La Herradura. One of the projects is the protection and conservation of La Herradura Castle, which dates from 1764 and is to be maintained as a centre…
VIP Visit
by David Darby •
La Herradura had a famous visitor at the end of December. Although the event went largely unnoticed, the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, dropped in one Sunday to enjoy some afternoon sunshine and a bite to eat.
Joaquin at Chamboa de Joaquin has been a busy man lately, with his spectacular annual charity paella event in Almuñécar, and prior to that, where did Ms. McAleese and her entourage decide to enjoy a view of the bay and a bit of Spanish nosh? You’ve guessed it!
Beach Clean
by David Darby •
Talking of cleaning, and going back somewhat to the earlier article about the heavy rainfall, the debris is finally being cleared from the beach.
Pucker Palm!
by David Darby •
Are there any gentlemen out there who think theirs is not quite as big as other peoples, or perhaps not quite as erect? Is it well trimmed and clean? These are all important issues to consider when talking palm trees.
Lack of Light
by David Darby •
The front page this month concerns itself with the ongoing (or not) issues in relation to the completion (or not) of the A-7. However, this little article is more concerned with the local issue of not a single light on the La Herradura exit from the A-7.
The lack of lighting has been a problem now for several months, and is the result of unscrupulous thieves (is there any other kind?) who stole all the copper wiring for resale in the now very lucrative scrap metal market.
Leaky Roof?
by David Darby •
Did anyone else suffer with a leaky roof during the recent downpours? It seems that Spain and her buildings struggle as much with heavy rain as Britain does with snow!
