New Projects

Close to a million euros has being allocated by the Town Hall for five new projects in the area, and some of the money is allegedly destined for La Herradura.
One of the projects is the protection and conservation of La Herradura Castle, which dates from 1764 and is to be maintained as a centre of tourism and culture, which will include a museum and will also house several cannon which were originally in the castles’ artillery, to be used against pirates and the British (historically one and the same to most Spaniards). Let’s hope our hosts remember that times have moved on and don’t start pointing those heavy old pieces towards Carmenes or somewhere similar!
Going back to the money, which we are led to believe is to be used for “the construction, adaptation, rehabilitation or improvement of local authority buildings for use in sport, health, culture and social services”. It will also be used to lay 7,739 square meters of Astroturf in the Estadio Las Tejas, at a total cost of 458,000 euros. The installation will require the initial removal of the existing natural turf, but will also include the required specialist drainage, goalposts and benches.
