Choto Galore!

Damn! I had to miss the Choto Competition in Otívar on Saturday as I was busy getting the Gazette ready for the printer for Wednesday night!

However, our good friend and collegue, Juan Manuel de Haro, was there with his camera so we can at least provide a photo, which features none other than El Indio (Jerónimo Pérez of Pub El Indio fame).

Anyway, the winner of the II Champions del Choto de Otívar was a local lad, Antonio García Novo, followed in Second Place by José Manuel Rodríguez Domínguez, also from Otívar, and Miguel Guirado Ruiz from the Lentegí (aka Mingolandia) in Third Place.

A total of 15 cooks tried their luck, knocked out a paella-size pot of choto, most of whom were from Otívar and Lentegí, but also from Almuñécar and Ítrabo.

Everybody gathered in the Salon de Fiestas under the square, next to the Town Hall, whilst the cooks set up their culinary weapons on the Town-Hall terrace. Oh, and there was also some live music.
