Beat a 3-Year Old

The Prosecutor’s Office  has recomended 27-years’ imprisonment for a man accused of threatening and raping his then-partner (with whom he lived in a home in San Miguel de Salinas) and of beating her 3-year-old son.

The child had to be hospitalised as a result of the injuries received in the attack.

The defendant sat in the dock of the Provincial Law Court of Alicante, facing charges on two counts of sexual assault, two counts of abuse, one count of aggravated assault, and one count of making threats.

According to the Public Prosecutor, the incident took place between March and April 2020 when the accused sexually assaulted her. Furthermore, he allegedly threatened to cause physical harm to both her and her son if she left him.

The Prosecution adds that on April the 3rd that same year, the accused took advantage of a moment alone with the child to strike him in the face and grip him by the neck violently. The toddler spent five days in the hospital as a result of the attack.

But that is not the only reason that he stands trial, because he is also accused of forcibly kissing a passing woman on the street. This second incident will be tried in another court within the building where he is accused of allegedly grabbing a woman by the neck and forcing a kiss upon her after crossing paths on a street in Alicante.

This separate incident occurred on May the 19th two years later: according to the Public Prosecutor, he approached the victim and told her he wanted to kiss her. The woman attempted to escape, but the defendant, again, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, followed her, forcefully grabbed her by the buttock and neck, turned her around to face him and kissed her, whilst she struggled to free herself.
