The Town Hall has decided to close Calle Torres Quevedo so that the street can be renovated: that’s the one that connects Calle Guadix to Avenida de Europa via a cosmic wormhole… just joking!
The Town Hall intends to spend 74,000 euros on this task, or better said, it intends to spend 74,000 euros of the Provincial Council’s money. The street surface, pedestrian paths and curbs will be reworked, improving accessibility and rain drainage.
Work is scheduled to take six months, but it’s not clear whether they are Earth months or Neptune months in relation to its moon Nereid, which are equal to 365 Earth days… Judging by work on La Caletilla, it’s the latter.
Mayor Juan José Ruiz Joya said, “This street needs work done on it so we have decided to take advantage of this need to completely overhaul it, which is something that residents and business owners have been awaiting for some time.”
Work will start from the Cafetería Galiardo/Almusalud end, so whilst this is going on access will be available to garages. Oh, and some parking spaces will be eliminated in order to widen the pavement for American tourists…
