Burning Car on A-7

A vehicle ended up completely burnt out on the A-7 where it passes through the municipality of Molvízar yesterday afternoon.

It was around 14.45h when the emergency coordination centre, 112, received an alert to say that there was a car on fire near kilometre point 906 on the westbound lanes.

The centre in turn alerted the Motril Fire Department and the Guardia Civil traffic police, as well as a road-maintenance crew, whose task it was to clear the road surface of debris and hazardous liquid off the road surface.

The bomberos had their work cut out for them because the flames from the stricken vehicle had set light to roadside vegetation, so the forest-fire service, Infoca, was also called out to prevent the roadside fire spreading.

Fortunately, nobody had been hurt in the incident.
