The Guardia Civil in Almuñécar are investigating the death of a young man yesterday morning after he fell from a roof terrace (azotea).
The incident took place around 08.00h on Calle Helga Söhnel, which is the one that leads down from the top of the Paseo del Altillo to the beach road where the lower floor of the underground car park emerges.

The emergency coordination centre, 112, was inundated with calls explaining that a man was lying on the pavement after falling off a ‘balcony’ several floors up.
The call centre immediately despatched the Policía Local, Guardia Civil and a 061 ambulance, although there was nothing that could be done for the man given his injuries.
As part of their investigations, the Guardia Civil have inspected the scene from the roof terraceof the said block of flats and have inspected footage from CCTV security cameras.
According to municipal sources, the victim was around 18-years old but was not from this area, leading police to consider that he was a tourist who had come to Almuécar to spend the eve of San Juan.
A man who lives in the said block of flats said that the lad had been out celebrating San Juan and had probably seen the block entrance open and had gone up onto the roof terrace and sat on the ledge, which would explain why the balcony below had a broken railing from an impact.
