Almuñécar Sports Councillor, Luis Aragón announced this summer's Freestyle Motocross!

Event promoter, Antonio Ganivet, said that this event will bring together some of the biggest international figures in this sport, which will take place on Friday the 18th of July, starting at 22.00h in the municipal sports stadium.

In the Freestyle-Motocross world, one of its true legends, Dani Torres, together with other top-notch riders on the international scene will participate. Dani is the World Champion and X Games medalist.

Also participating is 4-time, Champion of Spain, Pedro Moreno, Mexican national champion; Eric Ruiz, and Pedro Torres, one of the biggest revelations in Freestyle-Motocross.

Antonio Ganivet said, “We are bringing the best riders in the world. We have made a big gamble, and we believe that Almuñécar, especially during the dates when the event is held, will see a large influx of people.” 

“When they see a motorcycle jump more than 25 meters up, along with the lighting, the sound, the announcer, dancers, and riders of this calibre performing their acrobatics, they will see that it is an unforgettable experience.” 

Editorial comment: It must be said that the original organiser of this event was motorbike-mechanic Jorge de La Torre Barea, who fought with the Town Hall to establish this event in Almuñécar. He told me a long time ago that he was told by the Mayor or one of his relevant councillors back then that if they gave him permission to hold the event, he had to train up somebody as a favour… I am pretty sure that this ‘apprentice’ is the organiser of the event nowadays with Jorge being sidelined.
