The Spanish Navy, Maritime Action Ship (BAM) Rayo has tracked and monitored several units of the Russian Federation Navy.
This warship operates as part of the Presence, Surveillance, and Deterrence Operations (OPVD), and has been keeping an eye on the Russian warships as they transited from the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean.

The naval ships under surveillance consisted of a corvette, a frigate, and a supply ship, which were escorting two merchant vessels navigating toward the western Mediterranean, south of Mallorca, which is within the Spanish Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The BAM Rayo maintained continuous surveillance throughout their transit through the Alboran Sea and the crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar, ending the monitoring when the ships entered the Exclusive Economic Zone of Portugal.
These actions are part of the permanent missions of the Spanish Navy, aimed at ensuring maritime security, preserving freedom of navigation, and contributing to collective deterrence within the Atlantic Alliance.
