Salobreña Town Hall is keen to push the idea of looking after the environment and gone into classrooms to emphasise the importance of bees for ecosystem balance.
This was organised by the Environmental Department and has enlisted the help of the retired beekeeper Antonio Funes.
Through talks, games, and participatory activities, students are shown the fundamental role that bees play in preserving biodiversity and the food chain.
Antonio Funes said that pupils actively participated by asking numerous questions about apicultura: the honey harvesting process, pollination, beehive organisation, and bee reproduction.
They were shown how these insects live, how a hive is structured, and the essential role that beekeepers play in maintaining colonies and conserving the natural environment.
The municipal environmental-awareness program also includes other activities such as fun hiking routes for discovering Salobreña’s natural heritage.
