Mugger Suspect to Face Judge

Back in February 2024, a 71-year-old man with mobility problems (he uses crutches) was mugged in Motril. The alleged culprit is now standing trial.

The Public Prosecutor has recommended a 6-year prison sentence for the accused, who has an ample criminal record.

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the aggressor approached his victim on the street to demand the money that the victim had on him.

The elderly victim refused, which lead to a physical assault, with blows to the head and chest, before shoving him to the ground and dragging him along to somewhere where he could ‘finish the mugging.’

All the aggressor got was the 15 euros that the man had on him and a packet of cigarettes.

If found guilty, in addition to the prison sentence, the accused will face a fine of 1,080 euros and a prohibiton from approaching the victim within 200 metres during eight years and six months.
