The Granada Fire Department rescued a dog from the Río Genil where it runs, channelled, through the city of Granada.
As the concrete river banks are about three metres high, there was no way that the dog could get out by itself – God knows how it got down there in the first place.

This was the situation yesterday morning and the dog was being swept along when somebody called the Fire Department.
Thankfully, there were exposed banks of silt along the river course as the level has gone down a bit.
Two fire personnel, tethered together, managed to get it to safety, with one of them acting as anchor on the bank of silt, and the other wading out to catch the dog as it was being swept past.
