Frigiliana’s Vantage-Point Telescopes

Frigiliana Town Hall has installed four telescopes at viewpoints around the municipality, thanks to a donation from the family of Expedito Arrabal Ruiz.

The donation was made by the family of this Nerja resident, who passed away just two years ago, and was professionally linked to the field of optics as well as being was a passionate amateur astronomer.

The new telescopes have been placed at locations offering good panoramic views, including the Mirador Rafael Alberti, the Mirador del Ayuntamiento, the Plaza de las Tres Culturas, and the Mirador de Montecillo Ariza.

These telescopes are not coin-operated like most such viewing devices in public places but are free-to-use.

Expedito Arrabal Ruiz, who passed away in 2024, dedicated his professional life to optics and the sale of hunting and fishing equipment. Although a native of Nerja, he did use to live in Frigiliana, as well, which is why his family wishes to maintain that connection with the village.
