Not A Prank

A man wearing a full-face crash helmet strode into a bar in Mijas and tapped his machete on the counter and said, "Money, money, money, now!" in English.

This was said with a thick accent, that suggested little English was known.

Now, as a friend of the barowner and two customers had been in moments before, joking around, they thought that he had returned. He hadn’t this was a real hold-up.

They started joking with him and everybody except him was laughing, as he tapped patiently his machete on the bar. One of the customers, answered, immitating his accent, “The money now?” and then in Spanish, “Shall we call the police?”

The waiter even grabbed the weapon pulling it closer to his face and then said, “The blade’s dented; ain’t no good, Mate”

This was all too much for the armed thief so he turned round and stomped back out.

Afterwards, realising that it wasn’t their friend and that it was a real robber, the barowner said, “We didn’t even bother to report it at first because we thought it had been a prank.
