The Guardia Civil in Bizkaia (Biscay) arrested a man from Barakaldo (near Bilbao) accused of swindling a man Granada resident out of €2,300 over Champions League tickets.
According to the Guardia Civil, the investigation began after a complaint was filed through the Guardia Civil’s new, electronic-reporting system and handled by a specialised cybercrime unit.
The victim,a resident of the city of Granada, made six separate transfers via a mobile phone, banking app to a phone number provided by the alleged seller. Investigators traced the phone line to a direct relative of the suspect and identified the bank account where the funds were deposited.
The Guardia Civil determined that the suspect, who has a criminal record for similar offences, acted directly without intermediaries.
Editorial comment: who the hell would pay that amount to watch football? OK, it shows I don’t like football. Rugby yes, football, no.
