Bare Necesitties

The Asociación de Amigos de la Playa Nudista de Cantarriján feels that the chiringuitos down there are not respecting them by imposing clothing rules.

This beach, right on the border with Málaga, has long been one where you can throw off your rags and scorch your unmentionables, as well as the retinas of those that prefer not to hang out when they hang out down there.

The association expressed its concern regarding what they consider a worrying shift: the progressive limitation of nudism in the beach’s chiringuitos. They point out that naturism has always been linked to respect: for one’s own body, for others, and for the natural environment.

Some hospitality establishments (chiringuitos in this case) that have always shared the beach in its naturist context are beginning to restrict access to nude individuals on their premises.

These restrictions are not seen as simple internal rules or business decisions but rather a profound transformation of the enclave’s spirit. It goes beyond minor inconvenience but rather an “emotional wound.”

The fact is, that far from being a stigma, naturist practice in Cantarriján has, for years, been an example of peaceful coexistence. If you want to get your kit off, fine; if you want to keep it on, that’s fine, too.

Consequently, it is especially painful for naturists is now perceived as something that must be limited or hidden.

The Asociación de Amigos de la Playa Nudista de Cantarriján concluded their message with an appeal: remember the history of Cantarriján. The beach, they argue, is not solely an economic or tourist space, but a legacy built on values of freedom and inclusion.
