Cockfighting Bust in Motril

The Policía Natcional in Motril carried out a raid on an illegal, cockfighting pit using 50 officers accompanied by veterinary surgeons.

At the time of the raid there were 130 individuals present, including 15 minors. They confiscated 43 fighting birds, along with 46,000 euros in cash used for bets.

A cockfighting pit is known as a reñidero in Spanish where two trained cockrells are pitted against each other to the death.

Cockfighting is illegal across Spain and Involvement can lead to administrative fines or criminal prosecution for animal cruelty.

There is no mention as to when the raid was carried out nor where the clandestine cockfighting pit was located in the municipality – actually, the report says, “in a location near Motril.”

Cock murder. Bull murder. Dog murder National so called sports. Should be outlawed. As was bear baiting.
I’m afraid I would also add Fox hunting/murder to that list. Hunting for food or to end the life of ill or Injured animals. I can understand.
But to get your jollies over watching animals die. Is a tad barbaric. Worse still when Royalty support it. Still we are getting more aware as we go along. Maybe even tourist horses and donkey traps will vanish or the animals treated far better.
