Two ships from a long ago epoch sailed into Motril Port... and it's not the first time that they've visited, either.
The two ships are the Galeón Andalucía and the Pascual Flores; the former is a replica of the Spanish galleons of the XVI & XVIII Centuries, which connected Europe to La Americas and Asia, armed to the teeth.

The latter is much smaller and is called a Pailebote in Spanish, which is the derivation of the English name Pilot’s Boat, which is basically a schooner without topsails.
The galleon is imposing the moment you step onto its deck. Measuring 55 metres in length, with six decks and nearly a thousand square metres of sail, and built of iroko and pine, you can only marvel at it.
Passing through Its narrow passageways, the cargo hold and the cabins, visitors can have an idea of how those sailors lived what they ate, where they slept, and how they faced long voyages crossing oceans for months at a time.
This is a ship that has sailed more than 100,000 nautical miles since it first left the dockyards and has visited the ports of London, Liverpool, Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Manila, New York, and Quebec.
On its latest European tour, it stopped at more than 20 ports across the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, receiving nearly 200,000 visitors before returning to Spain.
Tied up next to it is El Pascual Flores, which is not a replica but was laid down in 1917 in Torrevieja (Alicante) and was destined to carrying a cargo of salt from the salt pans on the east coast of Spain, as well as fruit and vegetables.
It sailed between Europe and Africa and even America and was part of the fleet of such ships trading out of Alicante. Eventually a British ship owner rescued it, lavishing TLC on it, so that it can continue to sail the seas today.
So, enough of their history… when can you visit them? From Yesterday (sorry!) to the 1st of March between 10.00h and 19.00h everyday. However, the Pascual Flores will do shorts sailing trips, so it won’t be tied up to visit on those occasions.
Tickets for the Galeón Andalucía: adults: €12, Kids (5 to 10): €6 and €30 for Families (2 adults + up to 3 kids. Children under five don’t have to pay but must be accompanied by an adult, naturally.
There is just one price to visit the Pascual Flores, which is three euros.
