BBQ Area Under Water

Vélez de Benaudalla's strand is underwater in places owing to the amount of water being released from the dam further upstream.

In this recreational area belonging to Vélez de Benaudalla, the stone/concrete tables and benches are half submerged along with the stone/concrete BBQ facilities for cooking.

At the moment, the Embalse de Béznar is virtually 100% full, so they are releasing water down Río Ízbor, which is one of the rivers that run into the Embalse de Rules, so the latter not only has to contend with the flow of meltwater coming down the Río Guadalfeo from the Alpujarra, but also the dumped water from the dam above it.

You have to go back to the early 80s, when there was no dam, to see the river with so much water in it; back then it just flowed out into the sea.

When they last worked on the previous dodgy supports of the motorway. Did they have to release tonnes or is it Liters of dammed water ?? I cannot recall seeing the river as nature intended. Or more so with the amounts of water being released. Shame for people living close to the very low river.
