The body of a man was discovered yesterday, floating in the water just round from a cove near Playa de la Joya, in Torrenueva Costa).

The emergency cootdination centre, 112 received and alert at 12.10h from a person who had spotted the body in the rocky area between Playa de La Joya and Peñón Jolúcar.

The centre in turn alerted the Guardia Civil, the 061 ambulance service, Salvamento Marítimo, Policía Local, the Motril Fire Department and the Policía Nacional… in other words everybody.

The Policía Nacional have taken charge of the investigation to find the idendity of the victim. No further information on the state of the body has been given; i.e, how long it had been in the water.
