Caixabank’s Phone App Scam

CaixaBank has issued a warning to its clients about a scam going around using using the banks name.

It points out that the correct app can only be obtained through official channels (App Store and Google Play) and that they never asks their clients for confidential information via emails, text messaging or by telephone.

Above all, CaixaBank will never ask you to install a different app, and there lies the scam because hackers sent out messages with a link inviting the intended victim to download the ‘new app.’

The Spanish consumer rights association, CONSUMIR urges people to be on their guard and that if they are interested in obtaining more information on scams like this one, they can visit their webpage, www.consumur.org, or by calling 968 22 30 82.
