The Mayor of Padul, Celia Villena, met with a provincial representative of the Central Government to discuss using funding for improvements to the Ruta del Mamut.
The Government Sub-delegate in Granada, José Antonio Montilla, visited Padul, in the Lecrín Valley, accompanied by the municipality’s Mayor, Celia Villena, to review projects developed with funding from the Agrarian Employment Promotion Program (PFEA), including the improvement of a section of the Ruta del Mamut (Mammoth Route).

According to information provided by the Sub-Delegate, a total of 460,360 euros has been handed over to the Padul Town Council to improve municipal infrastructure, amongst which were renovation work on the Calle Pradillo and Calle Lepanto.
Regarding the renovated section of the Ruta del Mamut, the goal is to provide recreational, tourist access to the Alberca Palmones by surfacing the access lane, and adapting it to better conditions of use using a budget of 67,446 euros.
The work is being carried out by 161 temporary employees for the task, taken from the municipal unemployed list.
The Sub-delegate explained that these projects “are fundamental for the development of the towns in our province,” adding, “The renovation of these streets not only improves the quality of life for the residents of Padul but also acts as a motor for employment, as it allows for the hiring of local people, offering them the chance to develop professionally within their own environment.”
