A law court in Vera (Almería), acting as the duty court, has ordered the imprisonment of the two detainees; A mother and her partner, in connection with the death of her child.

The body of 4-year-old Luca was found on Wednesday night on Playa Garrucha, near Mojácar.

The judge ordered that the couple be remanded in custody without bail, facing charges of murder and habitual abuse. The judge took this decision, considering that there was a risk of flight and the destruction of evidence.

The partner of Luca’s mother (with the inititals of J.D.) gave his statement before the judge after the mother had opted to exercise her right to remain silent.

The case, under seal, has left the town of Garrucha, it is said, devastated by the child’s death who, according to the initial findings of the preliminary autopsy, showed “signs of physical and sexual violence.”

The Guardia Civil’s Judicial Police continue to examine the evidence surrounding this case to reconstruct the crime. This includes everything from the discovery of the boy’s body to the days leading up to his death, videos circulating on social media, phone messages, his family environment, and Luca’s relationship with his alleged killers.
