Two parked cars went up in flames in Almuñécar in the early hours of Wednesday, according to the Councillor for Citizen Saftey, María del Carmen Martín Orce.

The car had been parked on Calle Ganivet, near the new Mesón Gala, in the old Hiper supermarket building. 

According to the Policía-Local report, they were alerted at 04.55h about the fire, which would have been the same time that the Almuñécar Fire Department received their call out.

Both emergency services were soon at the scene and managed to control the scene and put the cars out before the flames spread.

One of the cars was virtually destroyed by the fire whilst the other, which had been parked next to it, had it’s near side badlly damaged.

The fire crew and police officers remained at the scene until 05.31h, with emergency concluded.
