Traffic can now pass over the Rules Bridge, as the autovía was opened this morning, although it was announced that it would be tomorrow at 13.00h.
I discovered this on my way down to the coast from Dúrcal about 10.30h when I came to the diversion at the Ízbor junction.

Here I was frantically waved down by a maintence worker standing on the autovía before it narrowed down to one lane with his ‘stop’ batton.
Just behind him was another worker literally throwing the bollard markers onto the hard shoulder and after about five minutes I was waved through along the autovía rather than along the off ramp. I was so surprised, that I forgot to take a photo whilst we were waiting!
In fact, if a driver at that hour had wanted to come off at the Ízbor junction, they would have found it blocked off by bollards, so, logically, the road-maintence crews were still working on coverting the junction below the autovía back into a roundabout.
So, there you have it; you can now drive all they way up to Granada and beyond on the A-44 Autovía without being diverted down onto the N-323. However, don’t get too used to it because the autovía will be blocked off again on the 13th of January and work will recommence on the autovía Rules bridge.
