The Guardia Civil intercepted Thursday afternoon four North-African (Maghrebi) individuals after they jumped ashore from a RIB with powerful outboard motors.
This took place near Urbanización Marina del Este. The RIB roared back out to sea so it was difficult to know exactly how many people were onboard but did not jump into the water when it neared the beach.

The officers managed to round up four people, three of whom could be minors but they could not be sure how many others had landed but eluded them.
Those that were caught were taken to Motril Port where they were given a medical check up by Cruz Roja who confirmed that they were all in good health.
Later, they were handed over to the Policía Nacional to be processed. If it is confirmed that any are minors (the police use bone measurements to determine approximate age) they will be handed over to the Junta de Andalucía’s Minors Protection Service.
