All Change!

The Mayor announced that the project to give a face lift to the Paseo de la Caletilla in Almuñécar has been put out to tender.

Mayor Juan José Ruiz Joya considers it as, “one of the most anticipated and beautiful projects in our town.” He then waxed poetically with such observations as, “where the sea caresses centuries of maritime and tourist history.”

In fact, he considers that this project marks “a turning point for Almuñécar, thanks to the transformation of this very special place. Its design will combine the best of the old with the essence of the modern, for the enjoyment, community, and pride of those of us who love this land.”

The project has a ceiling budget of €2,200,000 (including VAT), but companies will be entering prices below that in order to secure the contract, of course.

As for how long the building work will last, it is estimated at 10 months once they start ripping up the old paseo.

Editorial comment: now, whilst they are ripping up the old paseo they will get stuck into the subterranean infrastructure, such as water mains, sewage, electricity and phone lines, so those living along there are guaranteed months of fun.

If we are to judge this paseo work on previous paseo projects, ten months to finish it all is a joke because each one of those projects (Altillo, Velilla, San Cristóbal, Abderreman) had that area paralised over periods of a couple of years.
