Illegal Campers Moved On

The police have been targeting again illegal camping and parking in the Maro-Cerro Gordo Cliffs Natural Area.

Around 50 vehicles, mostly caravans and motorhomes belonging to foreign nationals, were moved on from the area on Wednesday, following a joint operation involving officers from the Environmental Department of the Junta de Andalucia, the Nerja Policía Local and the Guardia Civil.

The police moved in on the access points and the area around the following beaches: Las Alberquillas, Molino de Papel, Río de la Miel, and Cala del Pino.

As pointed out above, this is not the first time that the local authories have made a sweep in this area against illegal camping; in January it ended in two arrests after the removal of 100 motorhomes and more than 30 tents in the Maro-Cerro Gordo Cliffs Natural Area. In March 2024 more than 60 motorhomes were ordered to move on were impounded in the Las Alberquillas and the Molino de Papel areas.
