The Ministerio de Transportes has announced roadworks on the GR-30, which is the original Granada bypass.
These roadworks, which start at 00.01h on the Monday the 6th with one lane in either direction being closed off between kilometre points 1.3 and 19, have a budget of 3m euros paid for by the EU… Surprise!

The good thing is that this work will be carried out at night; hence the midnight start on the first day and thence from 23.00h to 06.00h the following morning. On Sunday evenings, because of increased traffic coming up from the coast, the work won’t begin until midnight.
Furthermore, there will be no work carried out from Friday 06.00h and all day Saturday, with all lanes being open to traffic, for the above mentioned reasons (weekend traffic).
As is the case of the work on Rules Bridge (which is completely closed to traffic) work on the GR-30 will continue into December.
So what do these roadworks consist of? The answer is the installation of motorway overhead lighting; substituting some 1,300 sodium-vapour lamps for LED ones.
