Extra Lane for Weekend Traffic

The Provincial Department of Tráfico will set up an extra lane on the N-323 ascending from the coast on Sunday the 21st; i.e., tomorrow.

The extra lane will be between kilometre-point 171 and 169 and will be operational from 17.00h to 22.00h, although the timings can change depending on the density and duration of traffic.

The Centro de Gestión del Tráfico del Sureste will supervise the system in order to evaluate its effectiveness and make any necessary adjustments.

This measure is necessary owing to the autovía being out of use because of roadworks on the Rules bridge, between kilometre points 167 and 175 (Ízbor and Vélez de Benaudalla junctions).

Just to give you an idea where these kilometre points are, kilometre point 172 is exactly half way across Rules bridge and the same kilometre point number is exactly opposite the bridge on the N-323.

Where the Sunday, extra lane comes in is where the double lane heading up normally goes down to one because the road coming uphill from Ízbor bridge has two lanes.

In conclusion, on Sunday afternoon there will be double lanes in the direction heading up to Granada from the Vélez de Benaudalla bridge junction all the way up to the Ízbor/Acebuches autovía junction.
