The Junta de Andalucía has closed La Charca and El Molino sections of the main beach after testing water quality on the 15th.
Actually, in the case of La Charca it is only ‘recommended’ that you don’t bathe there, whereas El Molino it is an outright prohibition.

The samples showed “alteration in the concentration of the E. coli parameter.” The subsequent report stated that, “Both results, in accordance with the quality criteria established in current regulations, are considered of insufficient quality for bathing.”
As result the Town Hall has put up the warning signs in those areas of the beach
La Asociación Cal y Caña de Salobreña issued a communiqué saying, “We find it as surprising as outrageous that despite the warning issued by the Junta there hasn’t been widespread notification of the situation via the Town Hall’s social media [accounts] , etc.”
They say that there has been no response from Cal y Caña’s communique from the Councillor for Playas and Councillor for the Environment.
Consequently, they say that, “Confronting these cases of illegal waste spilling frightens more and more our leaders, who instead of leading a search to find a solution, hide the situation in shame in order not to damage the image of Salobreña.”

Reader’s comment: “Sh-t in the water and Sh-t on the streets, Salobrena just gets dirtier and dirtier. The water problem has been going on for years and yet there has been no determined effort to find out why. The streets continue to have Dog Poo all over the place and I cannot ever remember the pavements being jet washed. In some areas, which are ever increasing, the grime is so thick you cannot see what the actual colour of the pavement should be. Its about time the Council pulled its finger out and cleaned the place up and don’t get me started on the ever dwindling market on Tuesday and Friday.” – Shiner
