A man and a woman have been arrested in Madrid, accused of putting glass fragments into a jar of baby food.

The Policía Nacional say that the accused rented a room from a family with a baby and had placed the lethal jar of baby food in the refrigerator that they shared with the family.

The boobytrap came to light on the 30th of August when the mother of the 10-month-old baby discovered “small objects” at the bottom of the container.

After emptying it out onto a plate, she saw that the small objects were small pieces of broken glass. She immediately called the police and a patrol went around to the dwelling.

From the very first, the main suspects were the couple that rented a room as there had been heated arguments between the family and the couple on previous occasions.
