Two people were killed this morning in a road accident on the N-340 where it passes through the municipality of Almuñécar.
The accident occurred around midnight yesterday/first hour of today, near kilometre point 321, which is close to the municipal boundary between Almuñécar and Salobreña, on the tight bends between the Barranco de Enmedio and Urb. Alfa Mar.

The emergency coordination centre, 112, had received an alert warning of a head-on collision between a motorbike carrying two people and a car, resulting in the deaths of both of the former.
An ambulance with paramedics onboard was immediately despatched and the Guardia Civil de Tráfico alerted. Sources within the Guardia Civil confirmed that the 48-year-old, male rider and his 45-year-old female pillion passenger had died at the scene.

Reader’s comment: “Work Junkie!” Any bends are great for cutting like you’re on a racetrack. But these roads also have cars and lorries on them. So, sadly, whoever is on the white lines on a bike will lose. That’s assuming the car wasn’t badly over the lines. – PB Storey
