Having recently abandoned Facebook after 25 years, the Seaside Gazette has moved its social-media post links to Bluesky.
Every post that goes up on the main website will have a link on our Bluesky account, which you can follow here.

The decision to leave Facebook was a slow process that culminated after numerous post that were deemed “spam” for no apparent logical reason. No matter how many time you might appeal against such automated decision, the posts never reappeared because quite simply because a human never gets to review the case.
The last straw was when attempting to log in, we were confronted by so many “security” steps that always led to installing on our main computer Google G2FA Authenticator which wanted all kinds of personal information, such as ID number & passport number, etc.
This was further compounded by the Meta’s decision where you had to pay 4.99 euros not to have adds or alternatively give them full permission to dump all kinds of cookies on you.
Enough was enough.
So, although we believe that the majority of the 1,225 followers on our old Facebook account know how to go directly to our news website, we decided to open a Bluesky account to replace Facebook as social media platform, which has nothing to do with Elon Musk or Meta.
Our apologies for any inconveniences caused… sort of. 😉
