The Health Authorities for the Junta have found concentrations of intestinal enterococci and escherichia coli off Playa La Carchuna and placed a bathing ban there.
The source of this appearance is under investigation and until water samples indicate that there is no longer a presence of this microbiologial hazard, the ban will continue.

Accordingly, the Junta has ordered Motril Town Hall to cordon off the area of the beach affected, which extends from the eastern end of Carchuna to La Perla, where the positive samples were taken. Samples were also taken at Punta Lance.
The Town Hall is also required to provide information for bathers on what has led to the beach being cordoned off.
