Extra Police This Summer

The Guardia Civil have activated their special, summer coverage for the Costa Tropical, starting on the 1st of July and ending on the 15th of September.

Salobreña was chosen to announce the police operation, Operación Verano, with the Guardia Civil commanding officer, Colonel Francisco Javier Arteaga Manzano and a Central Government subdelegate, José Antonio Montilla Martos presiding.

The massive arrival of summer tourists, both national and international requires a greater police presence; on land, in the air and on the sea, which the Guardia Civil has, with its launches (Servicio Marítimo and specialised divers), helicopters (mountain rescue) and ground units that include regular units and Seprona (environmental police) and even a bomb-disposal unit TEDAX

Manpower will be bolstered with 28 officers normally based inland and 15 trainee officers doing their practical-experience assignment.

They will be keeping an eye on beaches, marinas, camping installations, as well as nightbars, hotels, and festivals.
