An electric scooter was left charging overnight in a flat in the city of Málaga, which provoked a fire after it overheated and burst into flames.
This incident took place on the 23rd of June in a dwelling in the Alameda de Capuchinos area of the city. The homeowner phoned the emergency coordination centre to say that there was a fire in one of the rooms but that it was spreading to others.

The Real Cuerpo de Bomberos de Málaga were called out and by the time that they had arrived the flames were already visible from the outside. However, they soon managed to put the fire out.
The room where the electric scooter had been charging was competely gutted but the rest of the flat was only partly affected. Fortunately, nobody had been hurt.
In recent months the Málaga fire service has had to deal with similar incidents, although this latest caused the most damage.
Their Spokesperson pointed out that in March there was another incident in a building within the Ciudad Jardín area of the city. On that occasion the homeowner had received burns on his arms and face, trying to put the fire out using a fire extinguisher on the apartment-block landing.
