A North-African man entered a grocer's (fruteria) threatened to kill the owner... then set about trying to kill himself with a broken bottle.
The agressor-cum-victim finds himself critically injured in the ICU of Hospital Costa del Sol, following this incident in Marbella.

The incident, which took place around three in the afternoon of the 20th of this month, was fully recorded by the shop’s security camera.
The first calls that 112 received were confused so it was not clear who had stabbed whom; the shop owner or the thief. Furthermore, the first caller spoke of a knifing; i.e., the weapon was a knife.
Within hours, images started to appear on social media of a man sat on the pavement outside the greengrocer’s, bleeding profusely from his abdomen after he had tried to eviscerate himself
Paramedics dashed to the scene, staunched the bleeding and rushed him to hospital. Also at the scene were units from both the Policía Nacional and the Policía Local, with the former taking charge of the investigation.
The entire event was recorded, so there is no doubt about how it developed: the aggressor entered the shop, threatened to kill the shop owner, grabbed a bottle of whiskey, smashed it against the floor and then began to stab himself in the stomach with the broken bottle, as well as in the nape of the neck.
Apparently, moments before entering the fruit shop he was seen armed with a knife on the street, attacking passing cars.
Editorial comment: Obviously the man was ‘not quite right.’
