Almuñécar has been suffering a string of power failures that have been occurring during this month.
For this reason, the local breanch of the leftwing political party, Izquierda Unida has formally asked the governing party for the reason behind them and what they are doing about it.

In Almuñécar, there have been powercuts, without prior warning in Torrecuevas, Avenida Costa del Sol, Avenida Andalucía, Paseo del Altillo and Barrio de San Sebastián, amongst other area.
The online Gazette has received questions from readers: Cheryl asked, “Why does the electricity keep going out on the Paseo de Altillo (June 15th & 16th)?”
The down times are a matter of minutes or for sometimes longer periods but can come at any time of day, explained the party Spokesman, Francisco Fernández.
“As well as the annoyance caused and electrical equipment damaged, these outages are disrupting businesses, too,” he pointed out.
The IU hopes that the Mayor will inform residents about what is going on, as soon as possible, whilst hoping that no more occur in the meantime, quipping that there is an “information blackout” coming from the governing party about the power outages.
Spokesman Fernandez asks the Town Council to instruct the Municipal Legal Department for a report that explains whether it is possible to demand damages from Endesa.
Editorial comment: This always appears to happen in Almuñécar just before the outset of summer and appears to be caused by a surge in demand. Endesa has promised to sort this out on several occasions but evidenty, this has not been done.
