Getting out of your car on an autovia, even during a breakdown, is always dangerous and it was during a breakdown incident that a man in his mid 50s lost his life

The victim was a 57-year-old tow-truck driver who had been called out to deal with a stranded car. He was in the process of recovering it, when he was struck by a passing lorry and was killed outright.

The incident occurred at 14.47h on Sunday on the A-3 autovia near kilometre point 230 where it passes through the municipality of Graja de Iniesta in the province of Cuenca.

Although nothing could be done for the towtruck driver, the 42-year-old man behind the wheel of the lorry that hit the victim had to be attended to by the paramedics as he was suffering an anxiety attack.
